An introductory astronomy workshop designed for students from Yrs. 3-7.

Option 1: 90 minute workshop including:

  • Size of a million; Earth-Moon scale; Earth-Sun scale; Moon Phases; Moon formation; Movement of the Earth - day/night, year, seasons; Solar System; Rockets

 

Option 2: 90 minute program including:

  • 60 minute workshop: Earth-Moon scale; Earth-Sun scale; Moon Phases; Moon formation; Movement of the Earth - day/night, year, seasons
  • 30 minutes in our Mobile Planetarium exploring the night sky, constellations, star types and colours, ancient storytellers

Requirements:

A cleared room with plenty of empty space, access to water before the program begins, access to electricity, access to an outdoor area.

With the planetarium: Large indoor space 8m wide by 4m high with access to electricity. The space needs to be cleared of chairs, tables and any pointy objects hanging from the ceiling.

Option 2, with planetarium:

+$70 +GST per session

Minimum booking of 2 sessions

Travel costs may apply:
$25 +GST per hour, first hour free

 

Discounts:

3 sessions in one full day:

-$10 +GST per session

3 of the same session in one full day:

-$20 +GST per session

3+ full days in 1 week:

extra -$5 +GST per session

Disadvantaged Schools (Category 1- 4):

-$30 +GST per session, no other discounts apply.

 

Payments

An invoice will be delivered on the day after an accurate student count. Payment is due via cash, cheque or bank transfer within 7 days.

Health Safety and Welfare

Due to the weight and amount of equipment, all workshops must take place on the ground floor unless an elevator or access ramp is available.

This is an important part of meeting our OHSW responsibilities and is not negotiable.

Bookings will be refused if this requirement cannot be met.
